Do I need to speak Chinese?

No. The trip is conducted in English, and we welcome both English and Chinese speakers. All educational content is delivered in English.

Conversations with Jianli and tea producers are carefully translated by Zhen to ensure accuracy and nuance. You will never be expected to navigate important discussions on your own.

That said, learning a few Chinese words or phrases can be fun — and often appreciated — if you’re interested.

How physical is the trip?

Tea grows in the mountains. Some origin visits involve uneven terrain, village roads, and light walking in tea fields. However, we do not structure the tour as a hiking expedition.

That said, the itinerary can feel full at times. Tea production follows weather patterns and seasonal timing, so we may adjust plans to align with what is happening in the fields and processing rooms. In addition, tea farms are often located outside major cities, which means travel time is part of the experience.

This is an authentic origin journey — you will feel the pulse of the tea season. We pace the trip thoughtfully, but flexibility and a spirit of adventure are important.
