Autumn Tieguanyin, so-called due to its autumn harvest time, has all the wonderful attributes of a spring tieguanyin, but they are somehow more refined, calm and mature. It was hard to detect the fragrance of the dry leaves at first. However, after the rinse the leaves give off light floral aromas (orchid) and the liquor delivers a very balanced floral sweetness. The tea’s orchid aroma was wrapped in a comfy ‘roasty’ warming mouthfeel. Around the 5th infusion, I was getting even more of the floral fragrance, but the sweetness had dissipated leaving a rich and full mouthfeel.

I’m normally not a fan of TieGuanYin anymore because the flavour can be too strong and floral for my tastes. However, this variety is more robust and hearty! It was a pleasant surprise. On top of that, the quality is great because the flavour lasted past 7 steeps!

Oh wow. My enjoyment of TieGuanYin really varies widely from vendor/farmer to vendor/farmer so I am never sure how any one will fall out. Well, I find this one to be delicious. Has a very soupy, thick mouth feel and is very very juicy with virtually no astringency. Definitely I’m getting the floral but it is perfectly balanced with the warmer almost chestnut notes. Very–as has been described elsewhere on this page–toasty and comforting. I will definitely order this one again.
