Compact and easy to pack, the only thing small about these Shu Pu’er mini-tuo is the size. Even the dry leaf aroma is large, with booming date and woodiness apparent upon the first inhale. Early infusions brew up a soft red-brown liquor that effuses a gentle marine aroma combined with wet autumn leaves. Early sips are immediately attention grabbing! Sweet and smooth being the dominant feelings and an almost chocolately sensation teasing the palate. As we progressed through the infusions the liquor became increasingly bright and moved towards a ruby hue. The woodiness became more like the inner bark of a hardwood tree and the mouthfeel is thick and saucy. The bottom cup reminded me of wet tree bark and watermelon rind. I could easily picture this tea being a very regular calming evening sip.
